TEACHING STYLE
My teaching style is based on learning being more experiential. You can work at your own pace with 6 months to take the course. We use techniques called Self-Directed Learning, Project Based Learning, and Art Integration. The goal here is to enjoy the learning for its own sake. I don't give out grades.
The main goal of this class is to listen to, create, and experience musical theater. Everything you learn will be based on your personal interests. The work you do in the class will be based on a project of your choice that includes arts and music in the process. You will be coached by and partnered with an educator/coach who will individually/small groups offer you guidance and instruction.
*There will be options to take short workshops and lectures. One will be included with the donation for the class at $50, Two for $90 and above, Three at $125 or above. Or they can be done separately. These workshops will be announced as the the class moves forward based on the interests of the students.
Students will be given 10 assignments (some of these will be adapted based on what you want to learn) that all work towards a final project. These projects will be presented on a class website (but that's not a requirement if you don't wish to share) This may include a live or video presentation.
TIME-FRAME
The class is ongoing and work at your own pace. Class will remain open for 6 months. This class is really meant to fit into a busy life with the idea of naturally incorporating the content into your life.
COST $50-150 sliding scale suggested donation.
All payments are donation based as this class is being offered to groups of LGBTQIA+BIPIOC teens at no cost. Teachers and coaches are those that identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC. Members of this community have also been part of the creation of class materials. 50% of the proceeds go towards hiring LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC educators/coaches and teaching this content free to teens and young adults who identify as the same.
No one will be denied taking this class if they can’t afford it. Please email [email protected] for more information. I will consider clearly defined work trades/promotion trades.
